EHUFSD Annual Budget Vote & Election Voter Registration Information

Important – EHUFSD Absentee Ballot Information

Our District’s Absentee Ballots were mailed on May 27, 2020. In order to expedite the return of your absentee ballot to the District Clerk, we recommend that you drop off your absentee ballot at our Absentee Ballot Secure Drop Box located at our Central Office front entrance way located at 4 Long Lane, East Hampton. However, you still also have the option of returning your absentee ballot by mail if you are unable to drop the absentee ballot personally into our secure Absentee Ballot Drop Box. The District Clerk must receive your absentee ballot no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020. Thank you.



To be eligible to vote at the EHUFSD you must be registered. In order to register an individual must be:

  1. A U.S. citizen,
  2. At least 18 years of age,
  3. Be a resident of the East Hampton Union Free School District for a period of 30 days prior to the Annual Budget Vote and Election or Special School Board Meeting in which an individual offers to vote, and
  4. Not claim the right to vote elsewhere



Due to the health and safety concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the potential for contraction of COVID-19 is deemed a temporary illness. As such, every eligible voter is entitled to be sent an absentee ballot with a postage paid return envelope. Further, due to the resulting ordered closure of schools, personal registration with the school district will not take place for the June 9, 2020 election. In lieu of such registration, individuals can register through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles’ voter registration website at, and be eligible to receive an absentee ballot for the adjourned June 9, 2020 budget vote and election, provided that the individual register before June 4, 2020. Persons who shall have been previously registered for any District annual or special election and who shall have voted at any such District election held in the prior four calendar years (2016-2019), and/or persons who are registered to vote at general elections within the District pursuant to Election Law §352, need not register to be eligible to vote at said Annual District Election and will automatically receive an absentee ballot. Any individuals who are unsure whether they are qualified voters and/or will receive an absentee ballot should contact the District Clerk by email or phone with questions or to confirm if they are registered. Absentee ballots must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the Election and Budget Vote in order to be canvassed.

Please Note: A secured ballot box will be placed outside of our Central Office location entrance way located at 4 Long Lane, East Hampton, for those qualified voters who wish to drop off their absentee ballot in lieu of mailing the absentee ballot.



Pursuant to Education Law §2018-d, any person serving in the military, including spouses and dependents, may register to vote in the upcoming school district election. A military voter who is a qualified voter of the school district may obtain a registration form by contacting the District Clerk by phone at 631-329-4104, facsimile (631-324-0109), email (, mail or Kerri S. Stevens, District Clerk, East Hampton Union Free School District, 4 Long Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937. A military voter who is duly registered may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application form from the District Clerk. Completed applications should be mailed to the District Clerk and received no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 14, 2020. Completed military ballots must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020 if signed and dated by the military voter and one witness thereto with a date which is not later than the day before the election, or not later than June 9, 2020, 5:00 p.m. if postmarked or endorsed by an agency of the United States government. A military voter may designate a preference to receive a military voter registration form, military ballot application or military ballot by mail, facsimile or electronic mail in the request for such registration, ballot application, or ballot.



The 2020 Annual School Board Budget Vote and Election will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, 5:00 p.m., located in the High School Cafeteria, 2 Long Lane, East Hampton.



Two members of the EHUFSD Board of Education will be elected for a three (3) year term commencing July 1, 2020 and expiring June 30, 2023. The two (2) seats to be filled are those currently held by Jacqueline Lowey and John Ryan, Sr.
